Appointing an emergency contact in Orderist

Alongside an executor and any beneficiaries, Orderist asks you to name an emergency contact: someone whose only job is to help confirm if something's happened to you, so the right process can start.

An emergency contact's only job is to help confirm if something has happened to you, so your executor can begin managing your estate. They don't manage anything themselves, and they never see your assets, documents or will. This is available on every Orderist plan.

How it works

You add their full name and email address (no need to specify how you know them). They're invited to create an Orderist account and verify their email. No identity check is needed at this stage. They then confirm, or decline, the role.

‍

While you're both around

Your emergency contact sees a simple status card confirming they're listed for you, with a note that they'll only ever be contacted if something significant happens.

‍

When the time comes

If a death is reported, your emergency contact is one of the two people asked to confirm it (see “The death attestation process”). At that point, they'll need to complete a quick identity check before they can confirm, something they won't have done for any other part of this role. Once they've confirmed, they're thanked, told that your executor will take things from here, and their part in the process is complete.

Everything you own, in one place.

Orderist finds your accounts, memberships, pensions, property, insurance and documents, and keeps them current — so you're always ready when life changes.
